- Written and directed by Noah Baumbach
*SPOILER FREE
What is self-actualization? Why do we consume decades of our lives, our youth, in hopes of achieving it? Is it the journey or is it the destination that matters? Can there be a journey without a destination, or a destination without a journey? And what is the price of growing up?
Frances Ha is an independent comedy drama following Frances, a 27-year-old aspiring dancer living in NYC, on the pursuit of relevance and happiness as her life takes a certain downturn.

Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the film with her partner Noah Baumbach, gives a vibrant performance and one of the best monologues of the decade. And later on would become my favorite female writer and director, making feminine coming-of-age films and taking the art of storytelling to the next level.
