*SPOILER FREE

"Everything in the world is about sex except sex, it's about society." ~ Oscar Wild Alafghani

The Lobster is a surreal black-comedy romance set in a dystopian society where single people taken to The Hotel and given 45 days to find themselves a romantic partner or otherwise be transformed into an animal of their choice and released into the woods.

This is a story of a different kind, a love letter to the free who rebel against the rules, blind obedience, and the dictation of society.

Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, my favorite filmmaker of this century, in his English language debut feature film creates a bizarre, original, and highly imaginative piece of art that explores and examines the role of relationships in the society and the absurdity of striving to alikeness.

The Lobster is a satire on relationships, marriage, and the society that comes in the way of everyone's life and determines how one must live their lives.

A cinematic fusion of black comedy, satire, surrealism, and sci-fi... compelling story and genius storytelling, what's not to love!

Casting Colin Farrell, who outstandingly disappears into our main character, and an A list of actresses including Rachel Weisz who also eloquently narrates the film, Lea Seydoux, and Olivia Colman, my favorite actress of all time.

The cinematography, the slow-motion, and the use of natural light. The music and sound design. The Lobster looks and sounds just majestic.
