Paths of Glory

*SPOILER FREE

These are paths of humanity, paths of power, and paths of truth. This is the faithful hussar of cinema, Paths of Glory.

Paths of Glory is an anti-war drama set during WWI following Colonel Dax, the commanding officer of a battalion of French soldiers, as he attempts to defend his soldiers against charges of cowardice in a court-martial after they refuse to carry out an impossible mission.

This is a story about the real cruelty of war, the horror poor soldiers live (and die) through in favor of degenerate higher-ups living in mansions. This is a story of humanity and power and those on each side.

30 years before his satirical masterpiece "Full Metal Jacket", Stanley Kubrick made Path of Glory, one of the greatest and most honest motion pictures in the history of war cinema.

Exceptional writing and direction by 28-year old Kubrick, top-notch cinematography, atmospheric production and sound design, and one of the most sentimental, captivating endings in cinema.

Kirk Douglas gives an extraordinary performance as the leading character whose perspective we go deeply into the story through.

Paths of Glory is an important landmark of 20th century cinema that transcends its time.
