WHY DO FIREFLIES HAVE TO DIE SO SOON?

Grave of the Fireflies is a war tragedy set in Kobe, Japan during WWII and following Seita and Setsuko, a teenage boy and his little sister, as they're trying to survive and cope with the resolution of the war.

This is a heartbreaking tale of loving siblings, a powerful depiction of war and the emotions underneath the wreckage of war, this is filming the unfilmable.

No live action feature could capture the impact of war on its most innocent victims, the little ones whose image of life and the world is shaped by war and devastation, like the Anime masterpiece Grave of the Fireflies.

I can't remember I cried so much, almost for the entire runtime, like I had during this heart-wrenching melodrama.

Grave of the Fireflies is the first Studio Ghibli feature by mastermind - the late - Isao Takahata who, alongside the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, would carry on crafting a work of art and genius after another.

As emotionally devastating as it is, Grave of the Fireflies is a must-watch Anime for all viewers.
