The Holy Mountain

*SPOILER FREE

What is life and what is death? Is there such things as rebirth and immortality or are they man-made concepts? And how can one actually be enlightened?

The Holy Mountain is surreal fantasy drama following a Christlike figure, known as the thief, as he come across an alchemist who hooks him with seven others on a journey of transformation and a quest to find the secret of immortality.

This is an examination of the human condition, an oddessy into the metaphysical realm of existence. This is a satire on the human history, society, education, philosophy, religion and aspiration.

Chilean-French visionary filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky, who also co-scored, co-edited, and starred in the film, creates an unconventional cinematic experience, a feast for the eyes rich in psychedelic symbolism.

Astonishing production design, camera work, use of color, costume design and make-up, a grand opening and a ecstatic eye-opening ending.

The narrative is unapologetic about its obscene visuals, sex and nudity, depiction of violence, and absurd social and religious allegories.

The Holy Mountain is a thought-provoking work of surrealism and a daring piece of art about the human life, death and everything in between.
